Through October 4th, the Collier Museum at Government Center presents an exciting exhibit featuring one of Southwest Florida's most treasured on-the-water activities, Fishing! Make sure to go by and check it out before it is too late. They are open Monday through Saturday from 9AM to 4PM. Here is some more information about the exhibit according to their website:
"Fishing is one of the largest sports in the world, and Florida offers many chances for locals and tourists to pursue this popular pastime. Florida features one of the longest coastlines in the country and boasts abundant lakes, rivers, and streams. Its waters teem with more than 600 species of fish. In the early twentieth century, sport fishing developed into a major tourist draw and spurred the establishment of fishing clubs and tournaments. Florida’s lure as a sport fishing destination for saltwater and freshwater anglers continues today.
The Lure of Florida Fishing is provided by the Museum of Florida History Traveling Exhibits program. Sponsored by the Friends of the Collier County Museums."
