Journey back over 10,000 years of Southwest Florida?s unique past at the Collier County Museum. Learn about mastodons and fierce saber cats, Calusa and Seminole Indians, and the rugged pioneers who settled one of America?s last frontiers. The Museum of the Everglades welcomes today's visitors with exciting new exhibits about the creation of a town deep in the Florida Everglades, the building of the Tamiami Trail and details on some of the area's storytellers and characters. The frontier village was home to Seminole Indians and rugged trailblazers, pioneers and plume hunters. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Admission is free. Donations are welcome.
